Kathleen (Kitty) Paino grew up on the north Oregon coast, and now lives in Astoria, Oregon. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in art and art education, and has studied at Portland State University, Oregon State University and the University of Oregon. She has also taught art at the secondary and post-secondary levels.

Kitty's subjects are inspired by how she sees the historical and natural world of the lower Columbia River and North Oregon coast where she has spent most of her life. Kitty's personal belief about what sparks creativity in her life is that joy and inspiration can be found in everything we see. She also believes that we are connected on a physical level to what we see around us by the mere act of our viewing the object or subject. Much of her three dimensional art contains found objects that reflect that belief.
